Kelly Stumpe (aka The Car Mom) is disrupting the auto-sales industry one online car tour at a time. Kelly was raised in the automotive industry and began working at her family’s BMW dealership in 2016. When she and her husband started a family, she built a business set out to help other moms. Kelly absolutely loved her job as a car saleswoman; however when she and her husband started a family, those 12 hour shifts just weren’t going to work. Being in the automotive industry isn’t exactly “mom friendly”.
She loved what she did, but also wanted to put her children first. With that, Kelly and her husband began to think outside the box. There had to be other moms feeling intimidated by the car buying process and Kelly knew she could help.
She had the idea to help moms across the country buy a safe car for their family. She did this by reviewing cars online for other moms so that they could make more informed decisions from the comfort of their home rather than having to lug carseats into a dealership only to find they didn’t like the trunk of the Toyota Highlander.
Following her heart, building the right team of people, and meeting a major need in the market…The Car Mom quickly became the go-to brand for moms and families researching their next car purchase.
How to Monetize Your Platform as an Influencer
Kelly had so many doubts in the beginning, wondering how she was going to create an income with The Car Mom. Yet, she kept telling herself that she was going to continue doing what she loved and helping others - the money would come and, that it did! One key statement Kelly makes is, “Every successful entrepreneur sets out to help people, not to make money.”
Brand deals inevitably presented themselves but Kelly wanted to make sure she didn’t put her eggs all in one basket. She worked hard to diversify her income, even apart from social media.
From brand deals, paid views on YouTube, merchandise, courses, consultations and affiliate links - this savvy business woman was on a mission to build a business, not just a brand.
Disrupting the Auto Industry
Kelly knows that women are under-represented in every aspect of the car buying business. She wants to educate her audience on what is right and wrong, and help women to have a more empowered car buying experience.
It’s her goal to have women more comfortable with the automotive industry, as well as bring women into the business.
Even though Kelly is breaking the mold for how things have always been done in auto sales, she continues to not only advocate for the consumer, but for the dealer and the family-owned automotive businesses as well.
