Episode Recap

Suzy on Motherhood & Building a Business

Suzy had her first daughter very early on in starting her business. “Having children while building a business instantly gives you focus when it comes to your business,” she explains. “Having children changes everything.”

Here are three things she urges other moms to consider when balancing work and raising kids.

  1. Find ways to ‘trim fat’ - Take a look at what aspects actually make you money? What aspects give you life and are fun for you? Where can you cut back? Knowing these things are crucial to your success as a business owner and your wellbeing as a mother.

  2. Prioritize what you do and what you offer - This could look like rethinking your pricing, rethinking your offers, and taking a serious look at your workflows and how efficient you are.

  3. Get savage with your boundaries - Multi-tasking can leave you feeling a little frazzled and scattered. Designate times for you to work, and designate times for you not to work and really be present with your family.

Suzy’s Tips for Staying Authentic on Social Media

Suzy Collins BrandWell Podcast
  1. Social media is made and intended to be “social”.

  2. Sharing an element of ourselves gives people the feeling of the know, like, and trust factor. The more we can share our personality, our values, and our beliefs, the more people will feel like they know us. The more they know us, the more they will (hopefully) like us, and if they know and like us, then we will eventually earn their trust.

  3. You get to choose what you want to share and what you don’t, but at the end of the day, remember to keep it social.
